Who We Are
Community-rooted care for vulnerable children, disadvantaged young people and families.
St. Dorothea Kinderheim is a registered, community-rooted non-profit organization established in 2020. We are dedicated to improving access to education, healthcare and welfare support for vulnerable children and young people in Masaka and Kisubi, Uganda.
We believe that every child deserves access to education, healthcare, safety, care and opportunities to reach their full potential.
Our commitment is simple: to help vulnerable children and young people learn, grow, belong and build a future filled with possibilities.
Many vulnerable children and young people face poverty, family difficulties, limited access to education, poor living conditions and inadequate healthcare. These challenges can affect their ability to learn, develop and build a secure future.
Our response is rooted in community-based care. Some children live at our children's home, while others remain with their families, relatives or guardians and receive support through our community programmes. We work alongside families, schools, healthcare workers, local leaders and volunteers to respond to children's needs.
OUR SUPPORT AND GOALS
We help vulnerable children and young people remain in school, access education and develop the knowledge and abilities they need for a brighter future.
We also support children's health, wellbeing and essential care needs.
Our educational support includes school fees and tuition, scholastic materials, school uniforms, mentorship, career guidance, vocational training, higher education opportunities and child sponsorship.
Our goals are to improve access to education, encourage extracurricular activities and creative learning, and promote equal educational opportunities for vulnerable children and young people.
