About Us
Who We Are
The St. Dorothea Children's Home (SDOKI) was founded in 2020 by Mr. Joseph Balikuddembe and Mr. Deogratias Bukenya, together with Mrs. Lydia Naluwembo. The aim is to enable orphans and other vulnerable children in the Masaka region to develop properly. These children are mainly those whose parents have died due to COVID-19, HIV/AIDS, disease, wars, or refugee displacement.
In Uganda, there are over 1 million orphaned children who have lost their parents to AIDS, disease, wars, and refugee displacement. For many of these children, their options are to live with an elderly grandmother with no resources to provide care or fend for themselves on the streets.
St. Dorothea Kinderheim is a registered charitable nonprofit community organization.
All affected children lack adequate care, shelter, nutrition, medical care, educational support, clothing, bedding, and parental love.
St. Dorothea Children's Home (SDOKI) is geared towards addressing the needs of the large number of children who have lost one or both parents to COVID-19 and HIV/AIDS and those who are forced to leave their families due to child abuse.
